I have always considered lighthouses to be a little cliche’d, but there is definitely something appealing about them.
I spent much of 06 and 07 wandering New York taking different types of pictures. I will select some that match and post them here. These ones I feel capture some of the quite beauty of the city.
This is a typical back road in farm land country in southern Saskatchewan shot in the dead of winter. I really like how the bleakness of the landscape is punctuated by the tombstone like power poles.
This was shot on slide film then cross processed in a colour negative process.

I used to deliver the newspaper to this guy. He was always fun to talk to along my route. Years later I went back to him when I needed a subject for an assignment.
Strong dramatic lighting can really bring out the personality of a subject. Maybe not the most flattering but certainly very honest.
Shot with my Mamyiaflex twin lens on Tri-X film. I love the gritty feel of this image and the overpowering imagery of the sky on the almost insignificant image of the American icon. iStock however did not seem to think this one would be commercially viable though and rejected my submission.
